## History

Alec Ulmann saw the runways and service roads as a place to stage an endurance race in the spirit of Le Mans. The first race ran on New Year's Eve 1950, and the first 12 Hours of Sebring followed on March 15, 1952.

In 1959 Sebring hosted the first Formula One United States Grand Prix. For much of its history the track used a 5.2-mile layout, and it has been reshaped many times since.
